Portrait Session Location Ideas

If you’re here, you most likely have an upcoming session and are looking for ideas! I’ve created this page to help you decide on the location of your session. Here’s some options that I frequently use. (There are other spots in Baton Rouge and surrounding areas, I just don’t have images in my portfolio to share here!) If you know of a specific location that you’d like to use, simply let me know. Keep in mind that if you have access to any family or friends private land that we could use, that’s a great option as well! I love using new spots and this gives your session a unique look.

Other places to consider for your session:

– Your hometown

– Where you met

– Your favorite place to spend time together

– Where you’re getting married

Colors change with each season, time of the day, and with the weather. Every session, even if it’s at the same location, always looks different. I always strive to add in new spots/perspectives to make sure each session at that location does not look the same.

It is your responsibility to book any locations that might require an appointment AND pay any fees associated with that location.

LSU BOTANICAL GARDENS

Appointments are required for all photography sessions. In order to schedule a photography session, please contact the museum at (225)765-2437 or email rlm@lsu.edu with 'Photography' in the subject line.

Venue closes at 4:30pm, so start time must be scheduled earlier.

Windrush Gardens is located at 4560 Essen Lane. After driving through the front gate on Essen Lane, continue driving 1.5 miles back on the property. All photography sessions need to be purchased at the museum's front desk/gift shop area.

No appointments necessary, you pay upon arrival. The gates close at 5:00pm, so we usually start around 3:00pm.
They are very strict about closing time, so I aim to finish here at 4:45pm at the absolute latest, so we have time to walk back to the parking lot and leave on time.
